Meet the Owner

Izral Daniels

My name is Izral Daniels and I have dedicated the last 24 years of my life to mastering the art and science of hardwood flooring. What started as a passion became a profession and what became a profession became a calling. I founded 12th And Oak because I believed homeowners in Clayton and the Triangle deserved better: better craftsmanship, better communication, better results.

I handle every consultation personally. I assess the floor, walk through the options, and set the standard for what the finished job needs to look like. Gerardo has been our Lead Supervisor since 2008 and executes that standard on the job site every day. When you hire 12th And Oak you get 24 years of my expertise setting the direction and a crew I trust completely carrying it out.

Over the years I have seen every floor type, every subfloor condition, and every finish challenge the Triangle can throw at us. That experience means we do not guess. We know. When we give you a recommendation it is based on 24 years of real-world flooring knowledge, not a sales pitch.

Credentials

Certifications

These represent hundreds of hours of training, testing, and hands-on practice with the best finish systems and techniques available anywhere in the world.

Bona Certified Craftsman

Fewer than a fraction of Triangle flooring contractors hold this designation. Bona certification requires demonstrated mastery of sanding, staining, and finish application using Bona products and methods.

NWFA Member

National Wood Flooring Association membership connects us to the industry's most current standards, installation methods, and technical resources.

Loba-Wakol Certified

Certified in Loba-Wakol adhesive and moisture barrier systems, which we use on every glue-down installation and subfloor requiring a moisture barrier.

Rubio Monocoat Certified

Certified applicator for Rubio Monocoat, a penetrating hardwax oil system that reacts with wood fibers to create a durable, natural finish from a single coat.

Woca Certified

Certified in Woca Denmark finishing systems, including their oil and soap maintenance products used on European-style hardwax oil floors.

American Sanders Certified

Certified by American Sanders in professional sanding equipment operation, maintenance, and technique.

The Standard

Quality For a Lifetime

Quality For a Lifetime is not a tagline. It is the standard we hold ourselves to on every job, in every home, for every homeowner. It means doing the things that are easy to skip but impossible to undo.

It means moisture testing every subfloor with two instruments before any wood is installed. It means water popping every stained floor even though it adds time. It means using cleat nailers instead of staplers because staplers cause squeaks. It means acclimating wood in a climate-controlled warehouse before it touches a subfloor.

A floor installed to this standard lasts a lifetime. A floor installed to a lower standard fails in ways that are expensive, disruptive, and entirely avoidable. We chose this standard 24 years ago and we have not compromised it once.

Bona PowerDrive.

Fewer than 2% of flooring contractors in the country own a Bona PowerDrive. It is a gear-driven planetary sander that covers the entire floor within 1.5 inches of the wall, producing a flatter surface while removing less material per pass than a drum sander.

Dual moisture testing.

We use both the Tramex MEX5 pinless meter and the Delmhorst Total Check pin meter on every subfloor before installation. Both instruments, every job. Wakol PU280 or Bona R540 moisture barrier applied wherever readings require it.

Water popping on every stained floor.

We water pop every floor that receives stain, opening the grain for deeper and more even color absorption. Most contractors skip this step entirely. The difference in color depth is visible.

Primatech and Bostitch cleat nailers exclusively.

We never use staplers. Staplers split the tongue and cause squeaks. Cleat nailers hold without damaging the wood profile.

Climate-controlled warehouse acclimation.

New hardwood acclimates in our climate-controlled Clayton warehouse before it arrives on site. Bringing improperly acclimated wood into a home is a reliable path to cupping, gapping, and squeaks.

Five-year warranty.

Every project carries a five-year warranty. The industry standard is one year. That gap reflects the confidence we have in the materials and methods we apply on every job.
